This research is an analytical research and crosssectional study to find the factors that related to achievement motivation of 303 personnel in a university hospital in Bangkok. Data was collected by using a questionnaire; and were analyzed by Chi-square and logistic regression analysis. The result showed that personnel had perception of transformational leadership at the high level (mean = 3.75). They had achievement motivation at the high level (mean = 3.96) as well. Demographic characteristic of personnel was not found to be related to achievement motivation. The factors that significantly related to achievement motivation were the perception of transformational leadership in all 4 components (charisma leadership, inspiration motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration). Personnel who had the high perception of intellectual stimulation tended to have 3.65 times more achievement motivation than personnel who had low or medium perception (OR:3.65, 95% CI: 1.54-8.62). The findings suggested to promote and maintain transformational leadership especially intellectual stimulation in order to promote the achievement motivation of personnel.
