Abstract

The Study of severe diarrheal disease surveillance was performed in 4 community hospitals of 1 Naknon Ratchasima, 1992. The selected hospitals were the top 4facilities that reported the highest incidence of severe diarrhea in 1992.

The Study disclosed that the surveillance activitiy was done in all diarrheal disease cases seeking medical services in the hospitals by rectal swab culture (RSC), The percentage of the diarrhea pattients who were sent for RSC was 84.50, 66.18, 73.98 and 53.10 respectively. The percentage of the severe diarrhea detected from all cases of diarrhea at each hospitals was revealed as 1.36, 0.009, 0.02 and 1.02 respectively.
