Abstract

The study was divided into three parts. This descriptive study was the second part aimed at
studing the data and information sources and development approach for DMS to become Reference
Center and advocate policy.
By reviewing literatures and related documents, it was found that the data and information
sources could be obtained from analyzing data from major databases (especially of Social Security
Insurance, National Health Insurance office database, Civil Servant Medical Benefit Scheme and
Sub-district healthcare databases), from establishing registry and surveillance system, from reviewing
existing researches and studies and from doing research, technology assessment and survey
along with alliance networks (both government and non-government) to explore missing information.
However, there were a lot of problems and obstacles in acquiring data from the existing information
system including quality of data, data sharing, assessment to databases, information exchange,
meaningful use of information and linking information to policy making.
