Peritonitis Prevention by Networking Participation in End-stage Renal Disease Patients Treated with Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis, Nong Khai Hospital
บทคัดย่อ
The objectives of this study were to identify factors associated with peritonitis and develop measures for preventing peritonitis in end-stage renal disease patients treated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis in Nong Khai provincial hospital. Phase I, identifying associated factors with peritonitis, was conducted during 1 October 2008 to 30 September 2010. One hundred and
twenty six patients undergoing CAPD for 1 year were recruited. The results revealed that poor environment, self-training, and not following training steps were statistical significantly associated with peritonitis. In phase II, developing measures to prevent peritonitis, 36 patients with CAPD in the catchment area of Nong Khai provincial hospital participated from 1 October 2010 to 30 April
2011. The results demonstrated that health care services with participatory networking approach namely provincial hospital, family health manager, local administrative organization, volunteers by making proper environment, strengthening and creating awareness and correcting patients and relatives
strictly performing according to guideline could result in decreasing peritonitis rate from 27.1 episodes per patient month (0.44 episode per patient year) in September 2010 to 40 episodes per patient month (0.30 episode per patient year) in April 2011.
