Achievement of Insulin Injection Training by Skin Model in Diabetic Patients - ผลสัมฤทธิการสอนและฝึกทักษะการฉีดยาอินสุลิน ด้วยหุ่นจําลองผิวหนังในผู้ป่วยเบาหวาน

บทคัดย่อ

               The objective of this study was to compare the achievement of insulin injection training between the experiment group taught by using skin model and the control group taught without using it. The samples were the diabetes patients in out-patient unit of medicine and family medicine, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital during September 2557 to October 2558. Altogether 70 participating patients were randomly assigned to be experimental group (35 cases) and the control group (35 cases). Data were collected by observational scores, self-assessment scores about understanding and skills of injection and the effective scores of the skin model use. The reliabilities of three instruments were 0.79, 0.86, 0.94 respectively. The data were analyzed by pair t-test, odds ratio at the significant level of 0.05. It was found that the experimental group had better injection skills to obtain full dose of drug than that of the control group. Similarly, the experimental group showed better practice in grabbing a pen and avoiding reflux of drug solution. However, there was no difference in assessment scores between the 2 groups with regard to the skills of skin cleaning, selection of injection sites, and cleanly keeping the needles for reused. In addition, the participants in the experimental group expressed their satisfaction on the use of theskin model which helped them having the correct injection skills and reducing the fear of injection. In conclusion, the skin model is a suitable device for teaching patients to achieve correct injection skills and to reduce fear of injection.
