Partnership Networks Participation in Prevention and Solving Teenage Pregnancy, Khumuang District, Buriram Province - การป้องกันและแก้ไขปัญหาการตั้งครรภ์ในวัยรุ่น โดยการมีส่วนร่วมของภาคีเครือข่ายตำบลคูเมือง อำเภอคูเมือง จังหวัดบุรีรัมย์

บทคัดย่อ

          The objective of this study was to develop a community partnership model for the prevention and alleviation of teenage pregnancy. The study was conducted as a participatory action research (PAR) at Khumuang district, Buriram province through a process of situation analysis, planning, action and evaluation. Qualitative data were gathered during September 2012 to April 2013. The implementation was devided into 2 phases. The first phase was pre-intervention involving of investigation of the factors influencing teenage pregnancy through in-depth interviews, observations and queries to generate data. The second phase was the intervention phase participated by forty five partners to find out the methods to prevent teenage pregnancy problems. In the process, data from the first phase data were presented to the community leaders for independent discussions during a regular monthly meeting. Finally four methods were chosen to solve the problems: (1) regularly sexualty and healthy value campaign, (2) life skills development of children and youth, (3) close monitor at the risk areas in the community, and (4) surveillance and monitoring of children and young people with risk behaviors. Throughout the project, efforts were made by the participating parties to mobilize resources from within and outside the community.
As for the evaluation, tt was found that there was no change in the risk behavior of adolescents. However, the frequency of premature sexual activity decreased; and the number of partners reduced. Teenagers had knowledge to protect themselves as well as the negotiation skills. There was only one
teenage pregnancy observed.
