บทคัดย่อ

          Incidence of violence against women in Nakhon Ratchasima province is high and increasing every year. The main aim of this cross-sectional research was to study the basic database of violence against women, medical service, and risk factors of violence which would be used for improvement of medical services at one stop crisis center. The data were collected between January 2010 and December 2012. The important outcomes were type of violence; cost of treatment; results of treatment; as well as time, places, persons and risk factors relating to violence. Percentage, t-test, and Mann-Whitney U test were used for statistical analysis. Results showed that there were 256 cases of whom 70.3 percent were physical violence. Nearly all cases suffered from first time violence. Estimated health-related cost of treatment was 2,313.50 baht per case (maximum was 289,438 baht per case). The main result of treatment was cure or mitigate. Time of the events was mostly during 06.00 and 09.00 p.m. The perpetrators of physical violence were mostly family member, but the perpetrators of sexual violence were mostly non-family members. The major risks for violence were alcoholic drinking, bickering, jealousy, and opportunity permit. In conclusion, women should avoid the situations relating to time, place, person, and daily behaviors which might cause violence. The future research should include in-depth study for violences at community level and the risk factors in the perpetrators’ point of view.
