Quality of Life of Patients with Diabetes Mellitus Type II, Nongyasai District, Suphanburi Province - คุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ป่วยโรคเบาหวานชนิดที่ 2 อำเภอหนองหญ้าไซ จังหวัดสุพรรณบุรี

Type II diabetes mellitus is caused by insulin deficiency or resistance. The disease is often associated with many complications resulting in decreased quality of life of patients and increased the national budget in medical care. The study of quality of life of patients with type II diabetes and the factors that can predict the quality of life of patients with type II diabetes so important to be used as a basis for planning for the development of patients services, cost reductions resulting from the complications, and can be brought patients back to life with quality. The objectives of this study were to assess, analyze and identify factors that could be used to predict the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes. The samples consisted of 155 patients with type II diabetes in Nongyasai, Suphanburi recruited by a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected by using a set of questionnaire; and were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA and the stepwise multiple regression analysis. It was found that the quality of life of patients with type II diabetes in Nongyasai, Suphanburi was at a high level (mean = 3.64). When stratified by age, occupation, income and marital status, the level of the quality of life in patients was significantly different by the variebles at statistical level of 0.05. Stress could be use to predict the quality of life of patients with type II diabetes in Nongyasai, Suphanburi at 25.5% with a statistical significant level of 0.01. The author suggested that skill-building program should be promoted for patients with type II diabetes to be able to cope with their stress; and career guidance as well as marketing support should be provided to the patients who were mainly employees and earned less than the expenditure.
