Evaluation of a Breast Cancer Screening Model Which Involved the Participation of Public Health Volunteer Network - การประเมินรูปแบบการตรวจคัดกรองมะเร็งเต้านม โดยการมีส่วนร่วมของเครือข่ายอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุข อำเภอหนองหงส์ จังหวัดบุรีรัมย์

บทคัดย่อ

The objectives of this study were to evaluate a breast cancer screening model which involved the
participation of the public health volunteer network, to compare the satisfaction of women before and
after implementing the model, and to compare the outcomes of breast cancer screening before and after
introducing the new model. The study samples were 314 women aged 30-60 years old residing in Sao
Diaw sub-district, Nhong Hong Distric, Buriram province during October 2010 to April 2012. The
study tools included the operational training module for public health volunteer network and 2 data
collection forms namely the breast cancer screening calendar and a satisfaction assessment questionnaires.
The validity of the tools was verified by three experts; and the resulting reliability of the
questionnaires was 0.82. Research data were analyzed by descriptive statistics (percentage, means, and
standard deviation). It was found that the breast cancer screening model provided clear instruction to the
participants, made it easy for public health volunteer to monitor and follow-up on monthly basis, and
provided better opportunity to report the results and refer for prompt treatment. In addition, women who
participated in the program had rated their satisfactions at a high level. As a result, the number of
women performing self screening of breast cancer had significantly increased (p<.05).
