บทคัดย่อ

        The purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to study the effect of ethics empowerment to the ethics and service behaviors of nurses in Buddhachinaraj Phitsanulok Hospital. The study was done during March, 2004 - August, 2005. Data was collected randomly from 665 nurses and, as a result 250 nurses were included. Research tools were 1) empowerment activities 2) questionnaire about personnel data 3) ethics self assessment form and 4) service behaviors self assessment form
which developed by the Thai Nursing Council. Descriptive analysis was used and results were expressed in terms of frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Differences of scores before and after the intervention were confirmed by t-test.

           The results revealed that 234 sets of questionnaires were sent back and indicated that no difference in total ethics and genearal ethics of nurses before and after the ethics empowerment. However, professional ethics after the ethics empowerment was higher than before empowerment (p < 0.05). Service behavior of nurses after the ethics empowerment was higher than before empowerment significantly (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the ethics empowerment enhances professional ethics and service behaviors of nurses in terms of technical development, being friendly, good human relation, responsibility, and morality.
