Abstract

Background:  Myocardial infarction is a leading cause of death in Thailand. In 2017, 20,746 people died from the disease and there was a mortality rate of 21.8 per 100,000 population in 2018. The main cause was from changing consumption behaviors. and from
co-morbid factors that contributes to higher Myocardial Infarction. It was reported that from 2018-2020, there were cases of patients having internally recurring balloon angioplasty within 1 year at Phrae Hospital Heart Clinic and the rate was 3.76%, 3.84 and 4.45, respectively. Also, there were some patients having Acute Coronary Syndrome an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Objective:     1. To study the risk of recurrence in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome after balloon angioplasty with myocardial infarction in Phrae Hospital. 2.To study health behaviors and co-morbid factors patients having received cardiac rehabilitation with a new program

Study Design: Quasi Experimental Research, studied in a single group. The results were measured before and after the trial (The One Group Pretest Posttest Design). The sample consisted of patients with myocardial infarction under going cardiac catheterization at a cardiology clinic. Phrae Hospital received for follow-up in 2021, 30 subjects were studied during November 2021 – May 2022. Results were assessed after 6 months of treatment by evaluating laboratory tests including FBS, LDL, EF diagnose from Echo, blood pressure, Nitroglycerin use, and chest pain of treatment to assess the risk of recurrence.

Result:          Patients having behavioral control, doing exercise, combined with SKT meditation therapy were able to manage stress during cardiac rehabilitation (p–value <.01). Moreover, for laboratory measurements, it was found that FBS, Cr, LDL, EF diagnose from Echo and blood pressure returned to normal levels (p–value <.01). There was also no usage of sublingual medication and no chest pain reported after the cardiac rehabilitation program.

Conclusion:   The study of cardiac rehabilitation program on the quality of life patients with myocardial infarction after balloon, cardiology clinic Phrae Hospital shows that it helps reducing risk of patients from retuning for treatment of the same symptom within a year. This helps improving the life's quality of patients and can help patients in implementing healthy behavior change by themselves.
