Osteoarthritis is a common health problem and affects the quality of life of patients. This research is a quasi-experimental study that aimed to compare
self-care knowledge and behavior in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee before and after receiving the self-efficacy programs. The sample group is patients with osteoarthritis of knee who came to receive treatment at the Orthopedic Department, Lamphun Hospital from April to June 2024 with 85 people. The tools used in
the research includeincludee self-efficacy programs. It is based on Bandura’s concept of self-efficacy perception theory (Bandura, 1997). The tools used to collect the data included a personal data recording form, a Modified WOMAC Scale, a knowledge assessment, and an assessment of the self-care behavior of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviations, and inferential statistics including; paired samples t-test. The results of the study showed that after receiving a self-efficacy program patients have a high level of knowledge about osteoarthritis of the knee and behavior statistically significant at the level of 0.05. The self-care behavior in the areas of daily living, treatment, and use of medications, nutrition, exercise, and mental health improved statistically significantly at the level of 0.05. Therefore, the self-efficacy program effectively strengthens knowledge and self-care behaviors in patients with osteoarthritis of
the knee.
