Abstract

The aim of this study : to study prevalence and outcome of treatment on newborn with respiratory distress.

Methode : Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted through the period from October 2017 to September 2019. Data were collected from newborn with respiratory distress 250 case according inclusion criteria. Data was analyze mean, percentage.

Resulte : Prevalence was 9.0%, Mother was mean age 27.0±6.4 years, mean gestation age 38.3±1.3 weeks, antenatal care less than 10 time 52.4%, normal delivery 52.4, delivery by caesarean section 46.8%. Newborn with respiratory distress was male 60.4%, mean body weight 3,078±450.3 gms, indication of delivery : CPD 16.4%, GDM 8.4, Transient tachypnea 55.6%, pneumonia 13.6%, MAS 12.4%. We used treatment with oxygen therapy mean 1.6±1.8 days, antibiotic 4.3±1.8 days, mean LOS 3.6±2.1 days, refer out 14.4% and improve 85.6.

Conclusion : Transient tachypnea was the main cause of respiratory distress. In most of the cases X-ray findings correlated with the clinical picture. Treatment with oxygen therapy and antibiotics was good results, reduced mortality.
