Abstract

     Alcohol consumption has multiple effects on human body. Alcohol dependence, alcohol abuse or harmful use leads to substantial morbidity and mortality. Alcohol-use disorders are associated with blackouts, peripheral neuropathy, sleep problems, decreased bone density, heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver and fetal alcohol syndrome. These adverse roles of alcohol on human physiology were reviewed in order to raise awareness and pave a way to an eventual control of drinking.
