Proposal for Thailand Physician Requirement Projection Model Frame Based on Occupational and Envi-ronmental Medicine Competencies
Abstract
Occupational and environmental medicine (OEM) has been considered as a new science of prac-tices. In order to obtain a method for physician requirement projection planning to fulfill the needs of the Thai working populations and their work and environmental health problems, this exploratory research was performed. Existing models of the Thai and some developed nations were reviewed. Database of the Excellent Center for OEM, Nopparatrajathanee Hospital, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health were analyzed and synthesized through processes of participatory involvement from key stakeholders. OEM competencies were used as the determinant factors for segregating and grouping tasks groups and physicians groups related to duties of this authorized organization which is the solely OEM specialized agency of Thailand. Then, a simple model frame was developed and proposed to be used at affordable cost as a systematic tool that could align the needed data at area-based hospital level and country level to the same standard of records for achieving a physician requirement projection purpose.
