Abstract

International Health Regulations, 2005 (IHR 2005) designated meningococcal infection as one
of diseases shall always lead to scale up to be Public Health Emergency of International Concerns
(PHEIC). Therefore, a Thai’s worker imported meningococcal death case from South Africa was
reported with the aims to 1) document the control measure for meningococcal disease of Suvarnabhumi
port health office 2) address the isolation, quarantine of close contact, contact tracing both on board
and dormitory at case’s working place by Surveillance and Rapid Response Team (SRRT), Ministry
of Public Health (MOPH) 3) distribute the recommendation of port health office for air crew, cargo
and baggage handlers and maintenance crew precaution in case of facing communicable disease
patient by using guideline of World Health Organization (WHO), International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), World Customs Organization
(WCO) and Suvarnabhumi port health office’s standard operation procedure.
