This objective of this study was to identify the factors related to quality of life of the elderly in the 4 central North-Eastern provinces of Thailand: Roi-et, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham and Kalasin. Alto-gether 600 samples aged 60 and over were randomly selected from randomly selected 2 sub-districts from each provinces. Data was collected by using a questionnaire; and were analyzed by binary logistic regres-sion analysis. It was found that the quality of life of the elderly was at high level, and was not related to health status. The factors that were found to be related to quality of life included age, education and marital status. The elderly aged between 60 and 69 tended to have 1.465 times better quality of life than the elderly aged over 69 years (OR:1.465, 95%CI:1.016-2.114). The elderly with education level of primary school and beyond had 3.121 times higher quality of life than those with lower education level (OR:3.121, 95%CI:1.665-5.851). In addition, the married elderly had 1.756 times higher quality of life than the elderly who were single (OR:1.756, 95%CI:1.297-2.575). The findings provided basis for planning and strategy development in the region through the collaboration between government and popu-lation sectors, taking into consideration the difference of age, education and marital status of the elderly, in order to promote quality of life of the elderly.
