Development of the Scale for Measuring Perception of HIV Risk of Men Who Have Sex With Men - การพัฒนาสเกลวัดการรับรู้ความเสียงต่อการติดเชื้อเอชไอวี ในกลุ่มชายทีมีเพศสัมพันธ์กับชาย
บทคัดย่อ
This study aimed to develop a scale to measure the perceived risk of HIV infection of men who have sex with men [MSM]. Sample was MSM aged 15 - 59 years in Yasothon province. The development process included a literature review, an in-depth interview of three experts and a focus group of eight MSM to define and generate relavant risk items. Content validity was evaluated by six experts using content validity index (CVI). Construct validity was examined by exploratory factor analysis with data from 255 MSM. An internal consistency of the scale was assessed. The cut-off point score for predicting condom use of MSM was also identified. The results were as follow: the scale comprised 18 items with one dimension. The CVI of each item was ranged from 0.83 to 1.0 and CVI of the overall scale was 0.93.
The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient score was 0.83. The obtained scores range from 44 to 90. High score means perceive high risk. The area under ROC curve was 66.8% (95%CI=59.6-74.0). The cut-off point score was 63 with the sensitivity 83.5%, specificity 43.4%, and accuracy 61.2 %. In conclusion, the scale had acceptable psychometric properties both validity and reliability. Health professional could apply the scale for measuring perception of HIV risk among MSM in their areas. However, further study
should be conducted to evaluate the test-retest reliability.
