Develop strategies for participation in health promotion among village health volunteers Phetchabun Province

Abstract

This research is a survey research. The objectives are to study the level of participation in health promotion of village health volunteers, to study the factors related to the participation in health promotion of village health volunteers, and to develop a strategy for participation in health promotion of village health volunteers in Phetchabun Province. The population studied was 17,675 village health volunteers in Phetchabun Province, of which 412 were selected as samples. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire that was checked for content validity by experts and had a reliability value of more than 0.7. It consisted of 3 parts: Part 1: Personal factors; Part 2: Social factors, including information provision, leadership; and Part 3: Participation in health promotion of village health volunteers. The data were analyzed using Pearson's and Spearman's correlation coefficients, with a statistical significance level of 0.05.

The research results found that the participation in health promotion of village health volunteers in all 4 aspects, namely 1) participation in decision-making, 2) participation in operations, 3) participation in receiving benefits, and 4) participation in evaluation, were mostly at a high level (95.63 percent, 93.45 percent, 94.66 percent, and 92.96 percent, respectively). Factors related to the participation in health promotion of village health volunteers in all 4 aspects were age, duration of being a village health volunteer, providing information, and leadership. In developing strategies to enhance the participation of village health volunteers in health promotion, an efficient communication system should be developed to provide correct, up-to-date, and beneficial information to village health volunteers continuously and consistently, and the potential of village health volunteers in terms of leadership should be developed.
