Motivation, Food Consumption and Health Care Behavior for Stroke Prevention in Hypertensive Patients Receiving Health Service at Health Centers of Khon Kaen Municipality : แรงจูงใจการบริโภคอาหารและการปฏิบัติตัวด้านสุขภาพเพื่อป้องกันโรคหลอดเลือดสมอง ของผู้ป่วยโรคความดันโลหิตสูงที่มารับบริการในศูนย์บริการสาธารณสุข สังกัดเทศบาลนครขอนแก่น

บทคัดย่อ

ABSTRACT

          The objective of this study was to study the knowledge, motivation, food consumption and health care behavior for stroke prevention in hypertensive patients and to analyze the relationship between the knowledge and motivation and the food consumption and healthcare behavior for stroke prevention. This study is a Cross-sectional descriptive research. Data were collected from 212 patients with hypertension received health service at health centers of Khon Kaen Municipality using questionnaires. General information were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, percentage and the relationship were tested with Chi-square Test.

          The results found that 78.30% of samples had the knowledge about stroke and hypertension in the medium level and 58.49% had motivation for stroke prevention in the medium level. When assessed the motivation by 4 aspects of perceptions, perception of stroke risk, severity and self-efficacy in stroke prevention at the high levels were 51.89%, 52.36% and 51.89%, respectively. The perception of benefit from behavior for stroke prevention at the medium level was 61.79%. Their food consumption and healthcare behavior for stroke prevention at the medium level was 58.49%. Their knowledge about stroke and hypertension was not correlated with their food consumption and healthcare behavior for stroke prevention. The perception of stroke risk, as a part of motivation, was correlated with their food consumption and healthcare behavior for stroke prevention at significant level of 0.05. While the perception of stroke severity, self-efficacy in stroke prevention and benefit from behavior for stroke prevention were not correlated with their food consumption and healthcare behavior for stroke prevention.
