Ten older adults were enrolled into this study by simple sampling, lottery technique. The instruments in this experiment consisted of integrated reminiscence program developed by researcher based on the concept of Melendez-Moral et al. They consisted of 5 activities, 60-90 minutes for each activity and were tested for the validity by index of item objective congruence (IOC). The IOC of each activity ranged from 0.67 to 1.0. The instrument for depression data collection was TGDS assessment. The mean scores of depression before and after receiving the integrated reminiscence program were compared by Paired-sample t-test.
The results showed that before program participation, the samples had mean scores of depression in mild to moderate level (Mean = 15.80, S.D. = 2.82). After program participation, they had no depression (Mean = 4.50, S.D. = 1.58) which was significantly lower than those before program participation (p < 0.001). These result showed that, after the effectiveness of this program has been tested, the integrated reminiscence program is possible to be used for therapy of elderly with mild to moderate level of depression.
