Nursing Care of Coronary Artery Disease Patient after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery in Specialized Surgery Ward 5 Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital :Two comparison case studies

Abstract

Patients with coronary artery disease after coronary artery bypass graft surgery are at high risk of death. Nurses must use specific knowledge appropriate to the patient's condition to prevent complications.The purpose of this study was to comparative study; nursing care for patients with coronary artery disease after coronary artery bypass graft surgery.The study design: this is a descriptive study comparing 2 case studies. Case study 1 received treatment between 11 September 2023 and 23 September 2023. Case study 2 received treatment between 5 December 2023 and 14 December 2023.The study Results:  Case study 1: Thai man, 66 years old, with chest pain, fatigue, swollen legs, unable to lie down, diagnosed with 3 coronary artery disease, received surgery. Perform coronary artery bypass Summary of medical treatment symptoms from admission until discharge Thai man patient Had chest pain, tiredness, swollen legs, unable to lie down. Had 3 coronary artery bypass surgery. After surgery, general symptoms improved, had normal heartbeat, had controlled blood sugar levels. Total time spent in hospital: 12 days.  Case study 2: Thai man, 70 years old, with chest pain on the left side. Diagnosed with 3 coronary artery stenosis, coronary artery bypass surgery was performed. Summary of medical treatment symptoms from admission until discharge A Thai male patient has chest pain on the left side. Had 4 coronary artery bypass surgery. Had high blood sugar levels. After surgery, general symptoms improved, had normal heartbeat, pneumonia condition improved and had controlled blood sugar levels Total time spent in hospital: 9 days. It was found that both patients had the same issues, namely symptoms, number of narrowed arteries, and co-morbidities, but there were differences in age, and setting of heart support devices. Weaning off the ventilator, blood sugar control, and preparation before discharge. Conclusion: This study shows that Nurses are important people. Patient problems must be able to be assessed at an early stage, both those causing the heart attack and those resulting from the use of a heart support device. It will help the patient be safe and return home quickly.
