The Development of a Support Model for Enhancing the Quality of Nursing Services in Hospitals under the Khon Kaen Provincial Public Health Office

Abstract

       This study employed an action research approach with the objective of developing and evaluating the effects of a support model for quality improvement in hospitals under the Khon Kaen Provincial Public Health Office. The study was conducted in three phases: Phase 1 involved an assessment of the current status of support for nursing service quality improvement; Phase 2 focused on the development of a support model in collaboration with relevant stakeholders; and Phase 3 entailed an evaluation of the outcomes and a summary of the implementation process.

          The findings revealed that the support model for quality improvement in hospitals in Khon Kaen Province comprised six key components: (1) allocation of reserve personnel for nursing quality development, (2) establishment of operational guidelines and goals tailored to the hospital’s context and capacity, (3) training programs on nursing quality assessment, (4) implementation of a mentorship system for nursing quality development, (5) establishment of monitoring mechanisms with defined channels and frequency, and (6) morale-boosting activities for frontline nursing staff. The implementation of this model resulted in an increased number of hospitals achieving high evaluation scores. The developed support model was found to be suitable for enhancing nursing service quality in hospitals, ensuring higher service standards, reducing complaints related to medical service deficiencies, and increasing patient satisfaction.
