Abstract

As a part of family care team, the village health volunteers (VHVs) play an important role. The performance according to the role in family care team was in a high level but still need some improvement. This descriptive research aimed to assess the level of VHVs’ performance for home visit together with the family care team and the factors associated with the level of their home visit performance. Data were collected using the questionnaires from May 1st to 31st, 2020 in 146 VHVs who had worked in the catchment area of the Sukkasem Primary Care Cluster, Sakon Nakhon hospital. The descriptive statistics were used to assess the level of the home visit performance. Multiple logistic regression models were then used to assess the association between the home visit performance and related factors.

The result showed that of 47.15%, 87.67%, 65.06%, 59.58% and 75.34%, VHVs samples had the high levels of home visit performance with the family care team, knowledge of home visit, attitude toward home visit, motivation factor and maintenance factor for home visit, respectively. The factors associated significantly with the level of home visit performance together with the family care team at the statistical level of 0.05 were male sex (ORadj = 5.17, 95% CI = 1.01–26.42), high level of basic knowledge for home visit (ORadj = 3.49, 95% CI = 1.22–10.01), high level of cognitive and understanding attitude (ORadj = 3.09, 95% CI = 1.01–9.50), high level of motivation factor; job description aspect (ORadj = 3.99, 95% CI = 1.29–12.24) and high level of maintenance factor; working environment and convenient travelling aspect (ORadj = 3.92, 95% CI = 1.34–11.47).
