Nursing Care in Patient with Septic Shock and Acute Renal Failure: a Case Study

Abstract

         Septic shock has been one of the most important public health problems in the world. It is a cause of patient death and has high cost of treatment. The risk groups for septic shock were elderly patient, individuals with chronic disease and bed–ridden condition, causing deaths and increase the length of hospital stay. The nursing care for patient with septic shock together with acute renal failure needs the nurse’s knowledge in clinical course of disease, symptom change, skills for patient assessment, high–risk drugs administration as well as using essential medical equipment in order to care and take the patient out of the critical phase and safe from any complications. This case study presented the nursing care of patient with septic shock together with acute renal failure. Because of the underlining disease, diabetes, and improper self–care, the patient had worse condition and respiratory failure. The patient needed intubation and went into a critical condition. The qualified and effective nursing care, however, made the patient safe, recovering from critical condition, without complications and then could be dischargedfrom the hospital to stay home for continuously self–care.
