Relationship Between Resilience and COVID–19 Prevention Behaviors among Nursing Students at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Khon Kaen
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the correlation between resilience and COVID–19 prevention behaviors among nursing students at Boromarajonani college of nursing, Khon Kaen. The participants were nursing students from the first to the fourth year who studied at Boromarajonani College of Nursing Khon Kaen from November to December, 2021. They were recruited by stratified random sampling, with a total number of 198. The research tools were the resilience questionnaire developed by department of mental health with a reliability of 0.82 and the questionnaire to assess COVID–19 prevention behaviors with a reliability of 0.91. The basic information was analyzed by descrtive statistics. Pearson’s correlation was used to determine the correlation between resilience and COVID–19 prevention behaviors. The statistics level of 0.05 was considered significant.
The findings showed that the resilience of nursing students was in a normal range (x ̅ = 59.83, S.D = 0.84). The prevention behavior of COVID–19 infection in all aspects was at a good level (x ̅ = 4.25, S.D = 0.84). The resilience was moderately correlated with COVID–19 prevention behaviors with a statistical significance (r = 0.448, p < 0.001). Therefore, if the students have good resilience, perception of their emotional and mental abilities, and good mental health, they will have the ability to deal with problematic situations and have appropriate self–protection behaviors during the COVID–19 pandemic.
