Abstract

          This qualitative research aimed to study the effective human resource management in major private hospital network that affected their competitive advantages. The in depth interviews were conducted on three senior executives of Bangkok Dusit Medical Service (BDMS) network, One executive administrated a hospital in Bangkok while two of them in Chiang Mai. The information was analyzed using content analysis technique.

          The study revealed that the human resource management of BDMS network had various activities ranged from recruitment and selection, training and development to employee retention. Each activity had a unique process so as to create competitive advantages. The same standard of activity was established for the entire network with little differences according to the different cultures of each local area. This reflected the flexibility and adaptability of human resource management in different context such as the organization size, local cultures, and employee type; functional employee (Clinic) and operation employee (Non Clinic).
