Abstract

          This descriptive research aimed to study the promoting situation of preschool child development and the development of preschool children  who have received the services in the Child Care Center of Non Sung-Num Kum Municipality, Non Sung Sub-district, Muang, Udon  Thani. The random sampling was performed for selecting the samples of each three group. The samples were 3 groups including 34 care givers of 3 to 5-year-old children, 5 care takers of Child Care Center and 34 children aged 3-5  years old. The instruments for data collection were Developmental Surveillance and Promotion Manual (DSPM), the questionnaire for caretakers and the observation form for child care center. The data were collected from September to October, 2018 and analyzed using the frequency distribution, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

          The results found that the caretakers in the Child Care Center were all female, the age mostly in range 41-50 year (60%) and all graduated with a bachelor's degree. Most child caregivers aged 20-40 years (61.67%), graduated with a secondary education or vocational certificate (61.80%) and were housewife or butler (29.40%).The nutritional status of pre-school children was at the appropriate level (44.10%). The environment in the Child Development Center was in accordance with the standard criteria. The school building conditions were sufficient and conducive for learning of child development. The toys, learning media and storybooks were suitable for child development in each age. The management of teaching and learning activities of mentors was at a good level (= 3.89, S.D. = 0.20). The children had appropriate development status in all aspects according to each age criteria (100%). The results suggest that the Child Care Center should be promoted continuously as a learning center for promoting the childhood development in the community. It should be encourage the family to understand and realize the significant of using DSPM for child development evaluation.
