Abstract
This quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design research aimed to study the effect of learning activity model on health literacy in surveillance and prevention of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in at-risk people, Nonthaburi Province. Three hundred and eighty four participants who had CVD risk score more than 10 were selected using purposive sampling. The experimental instrument was the activity model developed by the researchers to use with at-risk people at the health center. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire about health literacy in surveillance and prevention of ACS in at-risk people with the overall reliability of 0.95. Data were analyzed using the descriptive statistic and paired-samples t-test.
The study found that, after activity participation, the samples had significantly higher average score of the health literacy in surveillance and prevention of ACS in at-risk people than those before participation (p < .001). This demonstrated that the learning activity model was effective for surveillance and prevention of ACS. Health care providers should further apply this model to develop the health literacy in surveillance and prevention of ACS in at-risk people.
