Abstract

ABSTRACT

This cross-sectional analytical research aimed to evaluate the Quality of Life: QOL and the factors associated with QOL of students in Border Patrol Police (BBP) School at Amnatcharoen Province. All 100 students studied in late primary (grade 5 – 6) schools were enrolled in this study. Questionnaires developed by the researcher in accordance with the theories and literatures reviewed were reviewed for content validity by 3 experts and tried out with 30 students outside the study area. The reliability was tested and the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.91. Data were collected in June 18-19, 2017. Data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics and inferential statistics; Multiple logistic regression for the correlation.

The results indicated that the overall QOL of students in BPP school at Amnatcharoen Province was in a good level (average scores ± Standard deviation; SD; 3.97 ± 0.63). The QOL in each component were also in a good level. The average score ± SD in learning, environmental, social, physical and mental components were 4.23 ± 0.27, 3.96 ± 0.77, 3.95 ± 0.73, 3.89 ± 0.91 and 3.38 ± 0.76, respectively. The factors correlated significantly with QOL of BPP students were their attitude (p = 0.016), family relationship (p = 0.036), enabling factors (p = 0.028), illness or physical disabilities (p = 0.034) and body mass index; BMI (p = 0.02). However, the BMI was reversely correlated with the QOL of students which was different from other reports. Additional studies should be investigated further.
