Risk Factors for Drug Use and Factors affecting Drug Use Protection of Junior High Schools Students in Sakon Nakhon Municipality : ปัจจัยเสี่ยงต่อการใช้สารเสพติดและปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการป้องกันยาเสพติดของเยาวชน ในโรงเรียนมัธยมศึกษา เขตเทศบาลนครสกลนคร

Abstract

          This survey research aimed to study the drug use behaviors, risk factors for drug use and factors affect drug use protection of youths in 2 junior high schools in Sakon Nakhon Municipality. Three hundred ninety-three students were enrolled by simple random sampling. The data were collected during June, 2016 to August, 2017using the questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics; percentage, mean and standard deviation. The risk factors were analyzed by Odd Ratio and 95% Confidence Interval of Odds Ratio. The stepwise multiple regressions was used for analyzing the factors affecting the behavior for drug addiction protection.

          The results revealed that 43.5% of samples had drug addiction, 77.8 % had alcohol drinking, 39.8% had smoking, 29.2% had Whong addition and 8.2% had marijuana addiction. Of 44.0% had knowledge about drug and drug laws in moderate levels (=14.21 ± 3.21). Of 53.7 % had attitude on the drug prevention in moderate levels (= 100.95 ± 14.69). Furthermore, 49.7 % of them behaved for addiction protection in high level (= 73.78±12.19). The risk factors for drug use were sex, age, study year, daily expense, gambling, moonlighting, partner consulting, truancy (p < 0.05). On the other hand, all factors; the knowledge on the drug and drug law, reading, exercise, attitude, housework assisting, age and parental support could coordinately predict the chance of protection of drug addiction of 27.5% (R2=0.275; p <0.05).
