Capacity Assessment of Family with Adolescent Childat MuangNakhonPhanomMunicipality,NakhonPhanom Province : การประเมินศักยภาพของครอบครัวที่มีบุตรวัยรุ่น ในเขตเทศบาลเมืองนครพนม จังหวัดนครพนม
Abstract
This descriptive research was conducted to study the capacityof family with adolescent child in six communities ofNakhon Phanom municipality, NakhonPhanom province. The samples were 180 parents with adolescent children aged 10-19 years and 180 adolescents aged 10-19 years. Data were collected using the family potentialassessment developed by PongpanKeadpituk.This instrument has the reliability of 0.76 as estimated withthe Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Data were analyzedusingthe frequency, percentage, mean ( ) and standard deviation (S.D.)
The results showed that the mean score of family capacity that mostly passed the standard criteria as assessed by the adolescents was the relationship and support aspect ( = 6.73, S.D. = 0.94). The mean score of family capacity that mostly passed the standard criteria as assessed by the parents was the family planning aspect ( = 5.93, S.D. = 0.94).The mean scores of the family capacity that were not pass the standard criteria in the three most aspects as assessed by the adolescents were the independence of thinking and decision making ( = 5.71,S.D. = 0.37), 2), recreation promotion ( = 4.62, S.D. = 0.58) and thesocial and culturelearning( = 4.72, S.D. = 0.52), respectively. The mean scores of the family capacity that were not pass the standard criteria in the three most aspects as assessed by theparents were the recreationpromotion( = 4.47, S.D. = 0.40),independence of thinking and decision making ( = 5.71,S.D. = 0.41) and the social and culture learning( = 4.84, S.D.= 0.58), respectively.
These research results create an understanding in the situation of families inNakhon Phanom municipality, Nakhon Phanom Province and could be used as basic information for continuing research concerning the model for promoting the relationships among modern families or the development of a time-sharing model for single parent families.
