Abstract

Midwifery for nursing students is rather complicated topic. Therefore, the researchers were interested in studying the effect of Concept-Based Instruction (CBI) on students’ knowledge and assess their satisfaction in CBI. This was quasi experiment research and one group pretest-posttest design. The samples were eighty-one 3rd students in academic year 2018, faculty of nursing, Shinawatra University. The study period was from May to June, 2019. The research instruments were the learning achievement test in nursing care of mother with intrapartum, postpartum and embryotomy decapitation and the questionnaire for teaching satisfaction. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics; percentage, mean, standard deviation and paired-sample t-test.

The results showed that, after experiment, knowledge scores of learning achievement in nursing care of mother with intrapartum, postpartum and embryotomy decapitation were significantly higher than those before experiment (p = 0.000, 0.000 and 0.000, respectively). The overall teaching satisfaction of students was in the excellent level. This suggests that CBI could be a guideline for teaching development and improving the students’ potential in concepts summarizing.
