Learning Outcomes of the Integration between the Academic Services and Teaching and earning in Gerontological Nursing Course of 2nd Year Nursing Student, Class 27, Borommarajonani College of Nursing, Udon Thani
Abstract
This qualitative research aimed to study the learning outcomes of integration between the academic services and teaching and learning in Gerontological nursing course of 2nd year nursing students, class 27, Boromarajonani College of nursing, Udon Thani. The forty–eight participants were selected by a purposive sampling from 24 student groups, two representatives per each group. Data were collected using a semi–structured interview method. Data were analyzed using a thematic analysis technique.
The findings showed that the integration of academic services with teaching and learning in Gerontological nursing course encouraged students to develop their skills including the application of knowledge of elderly care concepts into the real situations practice, problem–solving, teamwork, analytical and thinking, information searching through the reliable information technology, communication creating a networking with the community and attitude and ethical. The student’s attitudes to the elderly were adjusted to a positive and valuable viewpoint.
This study suggested that the implementation of the integration of academic services with teaching and learning, in order to gain the learning outcomes as specified in the course, not only the students should be explained to understand their roles but also the teacher need to increase their supporting role and help regularly.
